Construction and Refurbishment Safety

The CDM 2015 regulations which come into operation on 6th April 2015 have changed and the CDM-C role removed and a new duty holder the Principal Designer introduced to the legislation.

Under the regulations the following duty holders:-

  • Clients - will have greater responsibilities and accountability remains with them.
  • Principal Designers - will have the main role of co-ordinating the project. This may be the Architects, Principle Contractor or the Client, they will need to help produce the Construction Safety Plan.
  • Principle Contractor and Contractors roles remain very similar.

Domestic Building Projects are now covered by the regulations, even minor works such as fitting a window, A construction plan is required before the construction phase starts.
